The main challenge in the course of the land reform in Ukraine is not to infringe on the interests of plot owners.

President Viktor Yanukovych said this during a dialogue with the residents of Novi Petrivtsi in Kyiv region, according to the press service of the head of state.

"We want to make sure that the owners of land shares are not hurt. This is the most important question," he stressed.

Yanukovych noted that land reform is still frozen due to lack of consensus among different political forces.

At the same time, he said, the land cadastre has already started to work and land records are kept. "We are gradually moving forward," the president said.

In the conviction of Yanukovych, an important issue is also the functioning of the Land Bank, where the owners of plots would be able to receive dividends. "The earth will never get cheaper," he said.
