Kazakhstan Economy Ministry estimates 4.5% GDP growth for Q1 2013

According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning, Kazakhstan’s GDP growth made 4.5% in the first quarter of the current year, Deputy Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Madina Abylkassymova said in an exclusive interview for Primeminister.kz.

“However, we have seen positive dynamics in the production of goods and services. Thus, the production of goods increased by 1.1%, the growth in the services sector was 6.5%. One of the main factors contributing to the growth of GDP is the industrial recovery, which is seen at the level of 1.9%," the Deputy Minister noted.

According to Abylkassymova, there is also optimism about the situation in the mining and manufacturing industries of the country, which has improved as well.

In general, according to Deputy Minister, "these trends suggest that by the end of the year we will achieve the planned growth rates of the economy at 6%."

As previously reported, the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan forecasted 6% economic growth for 2013.

In 2012, real GDP growth was at the level of 5%.
