Indonesia's central bank on Thursday kept its policy interest rate unchanged at a record low for the fourteenth time in a row as it expects inflation pressures to ease and the economy to record a slower growth than previously estimated.

The Bank Indonesia maintained its benchmark interest rate at a record low of 5.75 percent, saying that the rate is consistent with the inflation target of 4.5-1 percent for this year and the next.

The central bank also revised down its growth forecast for 2013 to between 6.2 percent and 6.6 percent from the previously estimated range of 6.3-6.8 percent. In the second quarter, growth is expected to stay broadly unchanged at 6.2 percent from the previous quarter.

The growth forecast for 2014 has been revised down to between 6.6 percent and 7 percent from 6.7-7.2 percent estimated earlier.

The central bank forecasts that inflationary pressures will ease in the coming months, helped by the measures taken by the government to tackle the problems associated with food supply and the coming of the harvest season. In March, Indonesia's inflation rose to 5.9 percent from 5.31 percent in February.
