E-trade volume in Turkey rises by 20 percent

E-commerce volume in Turkey has boomed in the first two months of the year with a 19.5 percent increase from the same period a year earlier.
The number of transactions through credit, debit and other cards has reached 5.564 billion after 19.5 percent increase in January and February in total, according to data obtained by Turkey’s Interbank Card Center.
The e-commerce sector in Turkey has flourished over the past five years, catching the eye of leading international investors and e-commerce giants. Online trade via bank cards was worth 31 billion Turkish Liras last year, and it is estimated to rise to 62 billion liras by 2015 and to 316 billion liras by 2023, according to the E-commerce Enterprises Association (ET?D). The Turkish government has been working to find and prevent tax evasion in the e-commerce sector.
