Traditionally, during the “Black Sea Grain” conference the prospects of investments in the agricultural sector of Ukraine will be discussed. In particular, sources and effectiveness of investments of Ukrainian agri holdings in 2012/13 will be characterized by Alex Morgun, Analyst, UkrAgroConsult. 

“2012 had been quite successful for Ukrainian agro holdings in terms of attracting investment funds. Despite the fact that there were no holdings that carried out IPO in 2012 either with shares or with bonds, Ukrainian companies managed to attract total of USD 929 million through investment funds, banks, and private companies, including international ones. At the moment, after 3 months of 2013 have already passed, it is possible to state that there has not been even nearly as much investments for Ukrainian public agro holdings compared to the same period of 2012 since as of March 31, 2012, USD 289 million have been invested in the forms of loans and credit lines, while this number is only mere USD 16 million for the same period of 2013. It is possible to conclude that it has become increasingly harder for these holdings to attract investments, or is it the situation when holdings have enough funds and are focusing on executing their investment strategies? In case this is the situation, what were the main areas funds, attracted in 2012 were stated to be used? These aspects as well as several other ones I will present in my report”, - comments Alex.

The X International Conference “Black Sea Grain” organized by a consulting agency “UkrAgroConsult” will take place on April 17-18, 2013 in InterContinental hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
