Ukraine. Commodity export exceeds import - State Statistics Service

Surplus of foreign trade in goods in Ukraine made up USD 15.8 million in January against its deficit of USD 60.5 million in January last year.

The State Statistics Service informs about this.

"In January 2013, commodity export made up USD 5.126 million, import - USD 5.11 million. Against January 2012, export made up 96.3%, import - 94.9%. Positive balance made up USD 15.8 million (in January 2012, negative balance was USD 60.5 million)," a statement reads.

According to the State Statistics Service, the export/import ratio was 1.00 (in January 2012 - 0.99). Foreign trade operations were held with partners from 180 world countries.

Export of goods to Europe made up 30.3% of total export volume, including to the European Union countries - 29.8%, to CIS countries - 30%, Asia - 26.4%, Africa - 7.1%, America - 6%, Australia and Oceania - 0.1%.

Among the largest partner countries, export of goods grew to Spain - by 53.2%, China - by 51.4%, India - by 40%, Belarus - by 30.5%, Italy - by 7.8% and Poland - by 7.6%. Simultaneously, exports reduced to Egypt by 18.1%, Russia - by 16.9% and Turkey - by 3.4%.

In total volume of commodity export against the same period of the previous year, the share of grain crops grew from 9.8% tо 10.8%, animal fats and oils - from 5.3% tо 6.7%, ore, slag and ash - from 5.6% tо 6%, motor vehicles - from 4.3% to 4.6%, electrical machines - from 3.8% to 4.6%, seeds and oleaginous fruits - from 2.5% to 4%, fertilizers - from 2.8% to 3.9% and inorganic chemistry - from 2.5% to 3.4%. At the same time, the share of ferrous metals decreased from 26.7% to 22.5%, as well as mineral fuels, oil and products of their distillation - from 7.8% to 6%, railway locomotives - from 6.8% to 4.9%, ferrous metal products - from 4.6% to 2.7%.

Imports from CIS countries amounted to 40.6% of total imports, Europe - 31.9%, including from European Union countries - 29.5% Asia - 20.2%, America - 5.8% Africa - 1.2%, Australia and Oceania - 0.1%.

Import supplies increased from Turkey by 67%, China - by 63.7% and Poland - by 19.9%. Delivery from the U.S., Russia, Belarus and Germany decreased by 25.5%, 22%, 18% and 15.2%.

The share of electric cars grew in total imports of goods from 5.9% to 7.2%, motor vehicles - from 6.7% to 6.9%, plastics, polymeric materials - from 3.2% to 4.3%, pharmaceutical products - from 2.6% to 2.8%. The share of mineral fuels, oil and refining decreased from 40.5% to 34%, land transport, except for the railway transport - from 6.9% to 5.6%, ferrous metals - from 3.2% to 2.3%.
