Since the beginning of 2012/2013 marketing year, agricultural producers supplied 18.2 million tons of grain crops to foreign markets, which is 5 million tons up against the same period of the previous marketing year. Leadership on the volume of exports belongs to corn, which sold abroad to the amount of up to 10 million tons.

Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, the ministry's press service informs.

“As concerns grain exports, in 2012/2013 marketing year we expect that, on the whole, exports will make up 23 million tons. Today, agrarian producers have already supplied 18.2 million tons of grain crops to foreign markets. And this is 5 million tons up against the same period of the previous marketing year. In particular, as of March 5, agricultural producers exported 9.7 million tons of corn, about 6.2 million tons of wheat and 2 million tons of barley,” the minister informed.

Prysiazhniuk also noted a positive trend in expansion of geography of national grain crops export. “This marketing year, 7.7 million tons of grain crops were exported to the European Union countries. In addition, for today, Ukraine is a leader on supply of corn to England,” he said.

To remind, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its March report upgraded its forecast of grain crops export from Ukraine in 2012/2013 marketing year by 0.3 million tons against the February forecast to 22.01 million tons.

According to the document, the wheat export volume will make up 6.5 million tons, which is 0.3 million tons up against the earlier forecasted volume.
