Tajikistan officially becomes WTO member

Tajikistan has officially become member of Word Trade Organization (WTO) on March 2.
Representative of the country handed over the ratification document of Protocol of Tajikistan Accession to WTO to the Office of the organization in Geneva.
Tajikistan Parliament ratified the Protocol on January 9, 2013, although the document was signed on December 10, 2012 by President of the country Emomali Rahmon and WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy.
Parliament had to ratify the Protocol until June 7, 2013, which would mean acceptance of all regulations of the organization. Tajikistan is the second country of Central Asia, after Kyrgyzstan, which joined WTO.
New Tax Code came into force in Tajikistan on January 1, 2013 due to WTO regulations, it supposes liberalization of legislation. Particularly, tax naming reduced from 21 to 10. Decrease of tax rates on business income will also be provided, from current 15% to 13%.
Tajikistan is the 159th member of WTO. Kyrgyzstan was the first among post-Soviet countries to join the organization in 1998. Georgia, Moldavia, Armenia, Ukraine and Russia joined it later.
