India's FinMin says 2012-13 fiscal deficit may be less than 5.2% of GDP

India's Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram on Monday said the fiscal deficit may be less than 5.2 percent of gross domestic product in the fiscal year 2012-13.
In his budget speech last week, Chidambaram said the deficit will fall to 5.2 percent compared to the earlier estimate of 5.3 percent.
The government targets to cut the deficit further to 4.8 percent of GDP in the next fiscal.
