Australia's commodity price growth eases in February: RBA

An index of commodity prices in Australia increased at a slightly slower pace in February, preliminary data released by the Reserve Bank of Australia or RBA, showed Friday.
The commodity price index, in SDR terms, increased 2.3 percent in February, on a monthly average basis, after growing a revised 2.4 percent in January.
The largest contributor to the rise was the increase in the price of iron ore. The prices of coking coal, crude oil and base metals also increased, while the prices of rural commodities declined during the month, data showed.
Over the past year, the index has fallen by 7.2 percent in SDR terms. Much of this has been due to declines in the prices of coking coal and thermal coal.
