Telenor to establish bank in Serbia

Telenor telecommunication company is intending to found or buy a bank in Serbia, Telenor Srbija CEO Uwe Fredheim told daly Politika.
Fredheim said that Telenor representatives were talking with the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) about what the central bank thought about these ambitions and whether Telenor fulfilled all conditions necessary to get a license to found a bank in Serbia.
Fredheim explained that the company was considering founding a new bank, buying one or providing services through partnership with a certain bank.
“All three options are being considered. The final decision has not been made yet,” he added.
