January results show that Ukrainian fertilizer production went up by 22% in January in comparison to the same results from a year earlier. As we reported earlier the Ukrainian fertilizer industry is in a consolidation wave being led by Mr. Firtash. The bulk of Ukrainian nitrogen fertilizer is exported and the industry is definitely reaping the results of improved global commodity prices. There are six nitrogen producing plants in Ukraine and three are already owned by Firtash, and he has control of a fourth.
