Kazakhstan's national debt totals more than $ 20 billion - Zhamishev

The national debt (excluding mutual claims) totaled 3 trillion 828.3 billion tenge ($25.4 billion), or 12.2% of GDP at the end of 2012, Minister of Finance Bolat Zhamishev said during an extended board meeting, Gazeta.kz reports.
According to him, government debt amounted to 3 trillion. 626.7 billion tenge ($24.1 billion).
The level of government debt and the flow of its servicing and repayment were within acceptable and safe range in 2012.
The government debt was 11.5%, if relative to GDP. The debt burden on the budget is at an acceptable level with the current levels of inflation and interest rated. It was at 8.5% in 2012 (limit is 15-percent threshold).
