Ukraine trims grain exports forecast to 21 mln tons

Ukraine on Wednesday lowered its forecast of the grain export to 21 million tons for this agricultural year from 23.2 million tons estimated earlier.
"We have already exported 16.5 million tons of grain. If we keep the same pace, I think that exports will remain high," Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
Ukraine, which harvested 46.2 million tons of crops in 2012, will not place any restrictions on grain exports in the current marketing year, which ends on June 30, he said.
Since October 2012, rumors have been circulating that Ukraine, one of the top grai- exporting countries, may ban its cereals exports.
In 2011, Ukraine saw an all-time record harvest of 56 million tons and managed to export 22.5 million tons of grain during 2011-2012 marketing year.
