Ukraine is planning to expand supply of grain crops, dairy products, as well as to start export of agricultural equipment and component parts to the market of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this at a meeting with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi on Monday, the Ministry's press service informs about this.

"In 2012, serious structural changes took place in Ukrainian export to Iran. For today, prevailing in its general volume is the share of agricultural products and foodstuffs, which is 64.03%, 28% up against 2011. In total, in 2012, commodity turnover was reached in bilateral relations at USD 1.237 billion. At the same time, export of goods from Ukraine to Iran grew by 3.8% and reached USD 1.17 billion," Mykola Prysiazhniuk said.

Prysiazhniuk noted that now Ukraine is interested in expansion of supply of grain crops, sugar and dairy products to the Iranian market. Also, Ukraine is planning to start exports of agricultural equipment and component parts to the Islamic Republic of Iran. In addition, the Ukrainian party showed an interest in import of fertilizers.

In turn, Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi thanked for development of cooperation with Ukraine and stressed possibility of development of bipartite cooperation. "At the end of December, commodity turnover of the agrarian sector between Iran and Ukraine made up over USD 700 million. However, over one year, we could increase this index twice, and over two years - almost fivefold," he noted.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine proposed to set up a working group, which will study an issue of bipartite cooperation between Ukraine and Iran in the agroindustrial sector.

Mykola Prysiazhniuk confirmed an interest of the Ukrainian party in setting up an expert Ukrainian-Iranian working group for solution of the necessary bipartite trade issues. According to the Minister, this group should start its work at the end of February - the beginning of March this year.
