Poland's economic growth slows in 2012

Poland's economic growth halved to 2 percent in 2012 from 4.3 percent in 2011, data from the Central Statistical Office showed Tuesday. The growth rate matched economists' expectations.
Gross value added in national economy grew 1.9 percent, down sharply from 4.3 percent in the prior year. Likewise, gross value added in industry gained 1.2 percent, much slower than the 10 percent increase a year ago. Meanwhile, addition in construction dropped 0.5 percent.
Total consumption expenditure advanced at a pace of 0.4 percent, within which individual consumption spending rose 0.5 percent. Investment rose only 0.6 percent after climbing 9 percent in 2011.
