China's industry ministry is targeting a 10% rise in industrial output this year, unchanged from last year, a spokesman said Wednesday.
Last year's 10% rise in output was slower than the previous year's 13.9% expansion, according to figures from the National Bureau of Statistics, reflecting a slowing domestic economy.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was initially targeting industrial production growth of around 11% last year, but lowered its projection to 10% in September.
The ministry said in a statement Wednesday the country's industrial economy recovered in the fourth quarter from a slowdown in the previous quarter by tapping domestic demand amid faltering exports.
Data for third- and fourth-quarter industrial production growth weren't available.
