GDP growth makes 8.2% in Uzbekistan in 2012

Uzbekistan's gross domestic product grew by 8.2% in 2012, industrial production output is 7.7% up, agriculture increased by 7%, construction works – by 11.5%, retail sales – by 13.9% and service – by 14.2%, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 18. The meeting was devoted to results of social and economic development of Uzbekistan in 2012 and basic priorities of economic program for 2013.
Despite serious problems of global economy, the country's economy continued to improve steadily; stable growth of the living standards and further reinforcement of the country's position are provided, the President said in his speech.
GDP growth of Kazakhstan constitutes 5%, Tajikistan – 7.5%, Turkmenistan – 11.1%; and Kyrgyzstan's GDP makes minus 0.9%.
