The European Central Bank left its key interest rate unchanged at a record low for the sixth consecutive month in January.
The main refinancing rate was held at 0.75 percent, following the meeting of the Governing Council in Frankfurt on Thursday. The decision was in line with economists' expectations. The previous change in interest rates was a quarter-point reduction in July 2012.
The central bank also kept its deposit rate at zero and the marginal lending facility rate at 1.50 percent.
ECB President Mario Draghi is set to hold his customary post-decision press conference at 8.30 am ET, where he is expected to reveal a wait-and-watch stance.
