30 countries have been registered for negotiations with Ukraine on the revision of tariffs within the World Trade Organization.
This was announced by Acting Minister for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in a TV program on December 14.
"Today, of all countries, 30 have signed up to the group, with which we will have a conversation on the revision of tariffs," Poroshenko said.
However, he added, the countries that will participate in the negotiation process must prove that they are really interested in the initiated tariff changes.
"For example, Australia has obliged us to introduce a quota for sugar imports, when we have enough domestic sugar," Poroshenko explained.
He also expressed confidence that, on the condition of a professional and principled protection of domestic producers under the commitments that Ukraine undertook when joining the World Trade Organization, the talks will be a success.
