Kazakhstan will be among the first 50 countries in the world in terms of GDP this year, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev said in his message to the people of Kazakhstan.
"Kazakhstan will be among the largest economies in the world by the end of 2012. GDP per capita has grown more than seven times - one and a half thousand dollars to 12 thousand dollars. In 2012, we will enter the number of the first 50 countries in the world in terms of GDP," Nursultan Nazarbaev said at a meeting dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan.
According to him, the world has entered a period of global mega-changes, the center of the global economy is rapidly shifting towards the Asia-Pacific region.
"With the rise of Asia, we find ourselves in a geo-economic and geopolitical center of the world," Nazarbaev said in his speech.
