Assets of Ukrainian banks grow by nearly 6% in 11 months

As of December 1, the assets of Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 1.121 trillion, whereas total assets stood at UAH 1.265 trillion, UKRINFORM reported, with reference to the preliminary results of the performance of banks as of December 1, 2012, which were published by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

On January 1, 2012, the assets of Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 1.059 trillion, whereas total assets stood at UAH 1.213 trillion.

The largest share of assets, 65.5%, accounts for bank loans, whereas the share of investment in securities is 8.1% of bank assets, and accounts receivable - 6.1%. In the structure of assets 4.7% accounts for cash, precious metals and funds in the NBU, 5.5% for correspondent accounts with other banks, 4.4% for fixed assets and intangible assets, 4.4% for accrued income, and 1.35% for other assets.

As of December 1, 2012, the capital of banks amounted to UAH 169.7 billion, or 15.1% of the banks' liabilities. The paid registered authorized capital of banks amounted to UAH 174.5 billion. The liabilities of banks on December 1, 2012 amounted to UAH 951.2 billion.

The main components of liabilities were deposits from individuals (UAH 356.9 billion, or 37.5%), deposits from legal entities (UAH 181.8 billion, or 19.1%), interbank loans and deposits (UAH 135.4 billion, or 14.2%).

In particular, time deposits of individuals amounted to UAH 283 billion (79.3%), and demand deposits - UAH 73.9 billion (20.7%).

A total of 176 banks in Ukraine (public joint-stock companies) had NBU licenses for the performance of banking activity.
