Russia hopes Ukraine will join Customs Union by 2015

Russia hopes that Ukraine will join the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan by 2015.
Russian presidential aide Sergei Glazyev announced this at a meeting between the authorized persons of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leadership of the Kremlin administration, government members and parliamentarians, RIA Novosti reported.
"We are doing a great deal of work with Ukraine, trying to convince the Ukrainian leadership of joining the Customs Union. The Eurasian Economic Commission and Ukraine signed two memorandums on cooperation, and Ukraine is interacting with our country on a number of sectoral areas. First and foremost, the issue concerns the defense sector, aircraft construction, and agriculture. But we are currently failing to ensure that it moves on the path of joining the Customs Union. We hope that this task will be resolved by 2015," he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said that Ukraine should currently agree to some provisions of the Customs Union agreement.
