By results of the current year, gross output of agricultural products may reach UAH 222.2 billion. And revenues to the budget may reach UAH 42.2 billion.

This statistics was aired by Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk at the final annual press conference on Thursday, the UKRINFORM correspondent reports.

“Just the agrarian sector promotes GDP growth and is the filler of the budget and positively influences the balance of payments. Over 2012, like over the previous year, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry consistently implemented reforms, laid down in the Program of Economic Reforms of the President of Ukraine. And this produced its result. Gross output of agricultural products by results of 2012 is expected at the level of UAH 222.2 billion. Against other years, growth is obvious - the average index made up UAH 208.8 billion in 2009-2011,” the official said.

He stressed that the implemented reforms have already formed the basis for the agrarian sector and gave a powerful impetus to long-term growth. Over recent years, the agricultural products traditionally occupy a considerable part in Ukraine's foreign trade. This is the only sector of Ukraine's economy, which has a positive balance of foreign trade, Prysiazhniuk emphasized.

According to the branch ministry, over nine months of this year, foreign trade balance made up USD 6.8 billion. Against the previous year, it grew by almost 64%. As regards the foreign trade turnover of agricultural products, it is almost USD 18 billion. This is 16% of foreign trade turnover of Ukraine. In the current year, Ukraine boosted commodity turnover by almost 30% against the previous year.
