OECD area inflation rises to 6-month high

Consumer price inflation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area increased to the highest level in six months in October, latest data showed.
Annual inflation accelerated to 2.3 percent in October from 2.2 percent in September. The latest figure was the highest since April, when consumer prices increased 2.5 percent.
In the United Kingdom, inflation accelerated sharply to 2.7 percent from 2.2 percent in September. In the United States, it rose more moderately to 2.2 percent from 2 percent.
Meanwhile, inflation in the euro area, as measured by the HICP, slowed to 2.5 percent in October from 2.6 percent in the previous month. Inflation decelerated strongly to 2.6 percent from 3.2 percent in Italy, and remained stable at 1.2 percent and 2 percent respectively in Canada and Germany.
On the other hand, in Japan, consumer prices dropped 0.4 percent annually in October, after falling 0.3 percent in September.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index for the OECD area moved up 0.2 percent in October, after gaining 0.4 percent in the previous month, data showed.
