UAH 11.5 billion borrowed for autumn fieldwork in 2012 - Prysiazhniuk

2,280 agricultural enterprises attracted loans for more than 11.5 billion UAH for the success of the autumn fieldwork, the press service of the Agrarian Policy Ministry reported referring to Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
"Summing up the autumn field works, it should be noted that farmers raised the required volume of credits for successful planting. As of November 23 this year, 2,280 agricultural enterprises attracted loans for more than 11.5 billion UAH. Of the sum total, the state has helped get more than 4.7 billion UAH on favorable terms," he stressed.
The government official said that this year's state budget provides 417.8 million UAH for reducing the cost of loans to domestic farmers.
"Our farmers, except for the loans raised, had enough of their own funds to complete the autumn field work. However, we realize the need to reduce the cost of credits for small and medium-sized farmers, so appropriate changes should be made to next year's budget. I would also like to remind of the prospects for creating a land bank, which would help make crediting more accessible by providing loans at low interest rates of 10% per annum," Prysiazhniuk said.
