EBRD invested USD 15.9 M in CFG sugar plant in Nikolaev region

According to the official information released by European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, USD 15.9 M were invested in sugar production plant in Nikolaev region owned by Continental Farmers Group and ED&F Man Holdings. The deal was signed on November 26th with EBRD becoming minority shareholder of the company. The funds attracted will be used for modernization and purchase of sugar processing equipment for further development of the plant and increase in production volumes.
AgroInvest comment: Considering declining prices for sugar and massive abandoning of the sector by major agricultural holdings, we may only assume that EBRD is looking for a long-term gains with this investment.
