Prysiazhniuk: Decision to limit grain exports may be made in late November

2012-11-15 16:21:06

The decision to impose temporary restrictions on grain export of grain can be made at the end of November, after the regular consultations that take place as a part of the requirements of the memorandum between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and members of the grain market.

"At the end of November we will hold another meeting with the grain traders, analyze prospects, the condition of winter crops and together make a decision. There will be no surprises, all the decisions will be coordinated with grain traders," - assured the Minister.

He also noted that currently export limit of 5.5 million tons is not yet exceeded. "In exports wheat added 4.8 million tons, while the estimated total volume of exports (5.5 million tons) has not been exceeded yet. What will happen next? We wait for what the will market says. If the potential of grain exports will be bigger - thank God "- said N.Prisyazhnyuk.

In addition, he pointed out that the prevailing crop for export in the future will be corn. "Clearly, the volume of wheat exports will gradually decrease and corn will enter the market. In this marketing year, we plan to export a total of 14-15 million tons of corn, while 3.5 million tons have already been exported. The total export volume in the current marketing year could reach 22-22,5 million tons, "- said the Minister.

Earlier N.Prisyazhnyuk stated that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine sees no reason to impose restrictions on grain exports, and wheat in particular. And the exporters expect the volume of grain exports in November will be comparable with the index in October and reach at least 3 million tons of grain.
