Latvian inflation falls to 2-year low

Latvia's consumer price inflation weakened to the lowest level in two years in October, data released by Statistics Latvia showed Thursday.
Inflation, according to the consumer price index, slowed to 1.6 percent in October from 1.8 percent in September. The latest figure was the lowest since October 2010, when the consumer price index moved up by just 1 percent.
Food prices rose 2.3 percent year-on-year in October, while housing costs and utility prices climbed 5.7 percent. Transportation costs were higher by 2.2 percent compared to last year, and clothing and footwear prices lower by 3.2 percent.
Consumer prices remained unchanged compared to September, when they advanced 0.5 percent, the agency said.
