Ukrainian farmers as of October 23 threshed 40.1 million tons of grain and leguminous crops on an area of 13.5 million hectares, which is 91% of the forecast.

This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysiazhniuk, according to the ministry's press service.

"The harvesting of late grains and legumes is in the final stage. Thus, according to the regions, as of October 23, Ukrainian farmers threshed 40.1 million tons of grain and leguminous crops from an area of 13.5 million hectares, which is 91% of the forecast. In particular, farmers threshed 7.7 million tons of sunflower on 97% of the projected area, harvested 93% of rice crops and threshed 158,000 tons of this crop. Two million tons of soybeans have been also threshed, which is 84% of the forecast," Mykola Prysiazhniuk informed.

He added that Ukraine continues to harvest corn and sugar beet.

"Domestic farmers threshed 3.2 million hectares of corn, or 73% of the forecast, and harvested 13.8 million tons of this crop. Also, farmers have harvested 11.9 million tons of sugar beet on 71% of the projected area," Prysiazhniuk said.
