Ukraine will receive about USD 5 billion direct foreign investments in 2012

The Bleyzer Foundation upgraded its outlook on the increase of direct foreign investments in Ukraine in 2012 from USD 4 billion to USD 5 billion.

Executive Director of the International Bleyzer Foundation Oleh Ustenko told a round table about this, dedicated to forecasts and risks of the Ukrainian economy, on Wednesday, Kyiv, the UKRINFORM correspondent reports.

"Ukraine will receive not only USD 4 billion of investments this year, as was forecasted at the year start, but most likely will end the year with USD 4.6-5 billion of investments. This is extremely positive against even USD 6 billion, received last year," Ustenko has said.

According to the economist, this is an extremely small volume of what Ukraine may claim for in the international distribution of investment resources.

"Last year, developing markets received USD 300 billion of investments. Ukraine actually absorbed only 2%. This is obviously not enough, taking into consideration that colossal potential, which the country has," the economist stressed.

Ustenko expressed hope that appetites of investors to developing markets, which Ukraine is, will change in H1, 2013. And this is related primarily to the fact that developing markets give new opportunities. "It is admitted that in 2013, despite negative trends existing in the world economy, Ukraine may appear on the map of very many foreign investors, since there are sectors in our country, which are extremely attractive for investors," Executive Director of the Bleyzer Foundation said.
