The land market will not be introduced in Ukraine soon, because it is required by a law, which has not been passed yet, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said on Monday in Kyiv.
"The first and key point is that the market will not be created in the near future. I mean the market of farm land," said Lytvyn.
According to the speaker, the parliament has to pass a law that would have reassured people. This could be a bill from a representative of the Communist Party or the President's Representative in the parliament Yuriy Miroshnychenko. The two instruments provide for a moratorium on the sale of farm land. "If these documents are ready, we can consider them tomorrow, or November 6," said Lytvyn.
He also reminded that the moratorium on the sale of farm land in Ukraine is valid until January 1, 2013. However, even after that date the land market will not work, because it is necessary to adopt a law. "As of now, the bill on the land market is not put in the agenda of this session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, it has been was withdrawn," said the parliament chairman.
