Brazil has left low industrial production growth rates behind, Finance Minister Guido Mantega said Tuesday, citing latest industrial output figures.

According to a report issued earlier Tuesday by state statistics agency IBGE, Brazil's industrial production rose 1.5 percent in August from July, marking the third consecutive monthly growth and the best figure since May 2011.

Mantega said the August figure indicates the worst problems in industry are already over, and the sector's results in the second half of the year will be better than in the first.

"Now, the growth rate will start to accelerate and will continue in this path until the end of the year," he said. "Industry had a weak first semester, however it is giving more signs of reaction."
