Turkey September inflation rises to 5-month high

Turkey's consumer price inflation increased to the highest level in five months in September, data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Wednesday.
Annual inflation rose to 9.19 percent in September from 8.88 percent in August. The latest growth was the biggest since April, when consumer prices climbed 11.14 percent. Economists were looking for an inflation rate of 9.2 percent.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices rose 10.39 percent year-on-year, while housing costs advanced 12.05 percent. .
Month-on-month, the consumer price index moved up 1.03 percent in September, broadly in line with the 1.1 percent gain economists had forecast.
Separately, the agency said Turkey's producer price inflation slowed to 4.03 percent in September from 4.56 percent in August. Sequentially, output prices advanced 1.03 percent during the month.
