Ukraine's government plans to officially double land prices

Ukraine’s State Land Resources Committee chairman, Mr. Mykola Kaliuzhnyi, announced that the committee, Ukraine’s key land regulator, is working with the Ukrianian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, to develop and implement a new land pricing formula.
Investors should be aware that land lease payments are based on the governments land valuation, or cadastral value. Once the formula is affected, this will mean that land lease costs, will double. Clearly this news will have a negative impact on agro holdings who can expect to see land lease costs rising from $25 a hectare to $50, on average. However, Ukraine will still have the cheapest land costs in Europe, if not the world.
