2012-09-10 16:34:25

Ukraine and the Eurasian Economic Commission signed memorandums on trade and economic cooperation and cooperation in the field of technical regulation.

The instruments were signed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko, a UKRINFORM correspondent reported.

"I'm extremely pleased that we have agreed to establish cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Eurasian Economic Commission as a permanent body of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space," said Azarov.

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine would like to be represented in the Eurasian Economic Commission and take part in its meetings as an observer. "We would like to invite you to consider the representation of Ukraine in the Eurasian Economic Commission and express our desire to participate in its work as an observer," said the prime minister.

He added that Ukraine also has a desire to accredit in the Commission its permanent representative, who would work at the Embassy of Ukraine in Russia.

At the same time, the head of government said that the signing of the two memoranda will reduce risks in mutual trade, introduce clear rules in trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the countries of the Customs Union.

In turn, Khristenko told Azarov that the Eurasian Economic Commission has received applications from 35 countries on the introduction of a free trade area with the Customs Union.

Compliance with clear technical regulations stipulated in the documents signed on September 10, will make non-competitive advantages of one of the countries in bilateral trade impossible, he said.
