In case Tajikistan enters Customs Union it loses $400-500 million - diplomat

Tajikistan should not hurry with accession to the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, said Tajikistan Ambassador to Belarus Kozidavlat Koimdodov at the press conference in Minsk on Friday.
“We always say that creation of any union should not harm anyone. We must be ready for this," BELTA quotes the Ambassador.
According to Koimdodov, it is possible to create legal basis in a short term, however, it is more important to have proper economic bases. The Ambassador said that incase Tajikistan joins the Customs Union, it loses $400-500 million.
“We should not hurry, and should prepare for free movement of labor and goods in CIS and EurAsEC countries,” he said.
The Ambassador also stressed importance of territorial issue. Tajikistan does not have common borders with current members of the Union. If Kyrgyzstan decided to join the Customs Union, it will open more opportunities for Tajikistan accession to the Customs Union.
