Klymenko: Foreign investors get nearly half of automatic VAT refund

Foreign investors operating in Ukraine welcomed the benefits of the automatic VAT refund - they get almost half of all payments in accordance with this algorithm, head of the State Tax Service Oleksandr Klymenko said on Friday.
"In August, the amount of automatic refund was UAH 2.2 billion, and UAH 900 million went to foreign investors operating in Ukraine," said Klymenko.
According to him, the greatest share here goes to the companies from the EU: 78 enterprises with the European capital that operate in Ukraine received VAT refund in the total amount of UAH 752 million.
"We are working hard for the investor to get a clear signal that our policy is a projected public policy, that the state is doing everything to attract investment in the national economy," said the chief tax official.
Overall, in January-August 2012 the State Tax Service returned to business over UAH 31 billion in value added tax, with more than half (UAH 16.7 billion) was refunded automatically. Compared with last year, the tax refund increased by 8.4%, or UAH 2.4 billion.
