Chicago Mercantile Exchange's platform planned to open in Ukraine

2012-09-06 12:14:02

This year, the trading of the Ukrainian wheat started on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), which makes it reasonable to set up its trading platform in Ukraine, Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk briefed the press as part of the 24th International Agroindustrial Exhibition AGRO 2012 in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"Next year we plan to open in the first half of the site a trading platform of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in our state," said the official.

Prysiazhniuk also said that the Ministry expects grain exports from Ukraine in 2012-2013 Marketing Year (MY) at 21-22 million tons.

According to him, Ukraine expects a big harvest of corn and the crop will be the key in the export of the current MY.

"We expect this year to export 21-22 million tons. Of course, it will depend on how the foreign market will accept that amount," said Prysiazhniuk.

At the same time, he noted that he dislikes the available pace of grain exports.
