Ukraine's agricultural sector has increased gross agricultural production by 67% over the last ten years, and by 2020 it is to be raised by 1.6 times, while the export potential is to be increased by 2.5 times.
Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk announced this during the 24th Agro 2012 International Agricultural Exhibition on Wednesday, a UKRINFORM correspondent reported.
"A strategy for the development of Ukraine's agricultural sector until 2020 is based on the task of the stable provision of the public with high-quality and affordable food, as well as participation in tackling global food crisis," the minister said.
He also said that this year Ukraine would produce 1.8 million tons of sugar. A total of 56 sugar factories will operate in the country, Prysiazhniuk said.
