Belarus-Ukraine trade 40% up in January-July

In January-July 2012 Belarus-Ukraine trade went up 40% on the year to $4.4 billion, representatives of the Trade and Economy Department of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine told BelTA.
In January-July Belarus exported $3.2 billion worth of commodities to Ukraine (57.2% up) and imported $1.2 billion worth of commodities (7.9% up). Belarus continued increasing the trade surplus, with the figure at $1.98 billion in January-July.
Ukraine is a strategic trade partner of Belarus. In 2011 Belarus-Ukraine trade reached a record high and exceeded $6 billion, with the trade surplus at $2.1 billion.
The previous record of about $5 billion and the trade surplus of $663 million was reached in 2008.
