Belarus’ trade surplus over $2bn in January-July

In January-July 2012 Belarus’ trade surplus in goods reached $2.13 billion, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

Belarus posted trade deficit of $3.434 billion in the same months last year.

In January-July 2012 the total trade grew 15% over the same time a year ago to reach $56.5 billion. Exports increased by 28.1% to $29 billion, imports – by 3.7% to $27 billion.

The trade with the CIS totaled $31.74 billion, exports made up $13.3 billion, imports - $18.44 billion.

In January-July 2012 the trade with the Customs Union increased by 18.9% to make up $26.7 billion. Exports went up by 10.3% to $9.56 billion, imports by 24.3% to $17.14 billion. The trade with Russia reached $26.15 billion (up 18.9%). Exports made up $9.08 billion (up 9.5%), imports - $17.07 billion (24.6%). Merchandise transactions with Kazakhstan totaled $553.3 million (up 18.7%), exports reached $479.4 million (up 27.3%), imports from Kazakhstan went down to 82.7% as against the same period last year to $73.9 million.

In January-July the trade with non-CIS increased by 11.3% to almost $24.8 billion, with exports reaching $15.96 billion (up 38.5%). Imports reduced by 18% to $8.8 billion. Belarus had a trade surplus of $7.16 billion. In the same period last year the country had a $790 million deficit.

Merchandise trade with the European Union made up $17.82 billion (up 33.4%), including exports - $12.95 billion (up 50.9%). Imports from the EU edged up by 2% to $4.87 billion. The trade surplus for Belarus was at $8.076 billion. In the same period last year the trade surplus was nearly $3.8 billion.
