One of the largest agro holdings in Ukraine Astarta is planning to launch soybean-processing plant in the fourth quarter of 2013 and is aiming to work it under full capacity by the end of 2014. Full capacity of the company plant in Poland is able to process 220 thousand tons of soy under full capacity, however initial launch will be carried out under 50-60% of the full capacity. Company will supply 50% raw materials and other 50% will be purchased from the market. Company will spend USD 10 M to ensure successful operating of the plant. Total amount of funds that will be invested in company’s operations during 2012 will amount to EUR 50-55 M (initially forecasted at EUR 60 M).
AgroInvest comment: majority of the agro holdings in Ukraine invested in their own activities in 2012, focusing on expansion of the activities and modernization of the existing operations rather than acquisition of land.
