Kazakhstan’s economy raises nearly $6 billion worth of investment

Since the beginning of 2012, the country has taken nine investment measures to attract foreign companies and present Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities. 3 of them were held abroad and 6 in Kazakhstan. These events involved 529 Kazakh companies. 91 memoranda worth 11 billion US dollars were signed as a result.
Kazakhstan’s economy has attracted 5 billion 900 million US dollars of foreign direct investment in the first quarter of 2012. This is an 11% increase year on year, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reported to the kapital.kz business portal. The number of Special Economic Zone participants has increased threefold over the past two years. As of today, the country’s nine SEZs have 467 registered participants. During the first half of 2012, SEZs attracted investments worth 76 billion 400 million tenge. The production of goods and services totaled 14 billion tenge and about 400 jobs were created.
