Bulgaria’s producer price index in agriculture up 5.9% in Q2 2012

The index of producer prices in the agriculture sector increased by 5.9% in the second quarter of 2012 as compared to the same quarter of 2011, shows the data of Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute.
The crop output index increased by 3.9% and the animal output index increased by 8.6%. An increase in comparison with previous year was recorded in the burley – by 20.5%, bean grain – by 22.9%, sunflower – by 7.4%, cattle – by 19.2%, pigs – by 6.6%, sheep and goats –by 20.0%, row milk – by 5.0% and chicken eggs – by 23.4%.
The index of prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the second quarter of 2012 was 6.5% above the index in the same quarter of 2011. Increases were registered in the energy and fuels – by 6.2%, fertilizers - by 23.7%, veterinary medical products – by 4.9% and animal feeding stuffs – by 7.4%.
