Belarus to invest $3.6bn in agriculture in 2013

2012-08-09 17:54:30

Nearly $3.6 billion will be put in the Belarusian agriculture in 2013, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the Council of Ministers’ meeting on 8 August.

“In 2013 the state will inject over Br32.3 trillion, or $3.6 billion in the national agriculture. These are budgetary and loan resources,” the Premier said. In 2005-2010 the village received nearly $3.2 billion of investment annually. By injecting money in the development of agriculture, the state expects a return. For example, last year the exports of meat and milk totaled $2.8 billion. This year the exports of these products are expected at $3.1 billion. For comparison, the exports of engineering companies is expected at $3 billion this year, and the imports are higher here than in the agriculture.

Agricultural production brings good results, and it still has big reserves. That what was pointed out by the President at the yesterday’s meeting, Mikhail Myasnikovich said. “We should work hard to build up a strong livestock. We need measures to develop agro-processing,” the PM said.
