Belarus’ trade surplus in goods and services made up $3.67 billion in H1 2012, BelTA learnt from the National Bank.

For comparison: in January-June 2011 Belarus reported trade deficit of $2.2 billion. In June 2012 Belarus’ trade surplus was $724.6 million.

In H1 2012 the total foreign trade in goods and services totaled $52.5 billion, up 17.1% over the same months a year ago. With this, exports grew 31.7% to $28.1 billion. Imports increased by 3.8% to $24.4 billion.

In the first six months trade surplus in goods stood at $2.2 billion. In H1 2011 trade deficit was as much as $3.35 billion. The export of goods in FOB prices in January-June 2012 rose by 34% over the same period last year to reach $24.9 billion. The import of goods in FOB prices increased by 3.4% up to $22.7 billion. The foreign merchandise trade made $47.6 billion, up 17.4%.

In the first six months of 2012 the surplus in foreign trade in services made $1.4 billion (in January-June 2011 it stood at $1.16 billion). In January-February 2011, the surplus in foreign trade in services made $301.2 million. The export of services in January-June 2012 rose by 16% over the same period a year ago and made $3.2 billion. The import rose by 9.4% to $1.7 billion. The foreign trade in services inched up by 13.6% to make $4.9 billion.
