Early grain crops threshed on 99% of acreage - Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry

As of August 6, agrarian workers threshed 24.66 million tons of grain, which is 20.6% less against the same date of 2011, early grain crops and leguminous cultures were threshed on 9.66 million ha or 99% of the planned acreage.

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine informed about this.

"The average crop capacity in Ukraine is 25.5 centners/ha, whereas in 2011 - 30.2 centners/ha. The crop capacity is the highest in Kyiv region (42 centners/ha), Khmelnytsky (41.7 centners/ha), Cherkasy (41.2 centners/ha) and Vinnytsia (37.4 centners/ha) regions, the agency informs with reference to live data.

In particular, the wheat yield makes up 15.93 million tons from 5.6 million ha (99% of planned acreage). Its average yield reaches 28.5 centners/ha against 34 centners/ha in 2011.

Barley gathered from 3.26 million ha (99.6% of areas) was threshed to the amount of 7 million tons with the average crop capacity of 21.5 centners/ha (in 2011 - 25.3 centners/ha).

According to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, agrarian enterprises threshed 687,000 tons of rye from 295,000 ha (98% of the forecast) with the average crop capacity at 23.3 centners/ha (in 2011 - 21.6 centners/ha).

The Ministry also informed that agrarian workers continue work on procurement of fodder. With the forecast of 5.43 million tons, actually 5.16 million tons (95%) of hay was conserved, haylage was conserved to the amount of 1.5 million tons (97%) out of the forecasted 1.53 million tons.

As reported, the grain yield in Ukraine, according to forecasts of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, will be 45.3 million tons this year against record-making 56.7 million tons in 2011.
