The government is to speed up its privatizations program within August and will include gaming firm OPAP and Postal Savings Bank, sources said after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Tuesday.
According to reports, the decision was reached as the €3 billion target in privatizations revenue this year seems unlikely to be attained and the government is under strong pressure from the troika.
Separately, the country’s privatizations authority (TAIPED) on Monday said it was satisfied after the opening of the expressions of interest in the development of an 185-hectare land piece in the Afantou area on the island of Rhodes, which attracted seven bids from Greece and abroad.
The property includes a 45-hectare, 18-hole golf-course facility.
