The European Investment Bank (EIB) will disburse €1.4 billion in financial support for Greek small and midsized enterprises (SMEs) and large projects up to the end of 2015, the government said on Saturday.
“We have overcome a serious obstacle in the negotiations… The more energetic presence of EIB will give the private sector a breather,” Finance Minister Giannis Stournaras said after he and Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis met EIB chief Werner Hauer.
“The agreement is a vote of confidence for Greece as it does not only concern financial support for SMEs and large projects but also the facilitation of foreign investment and privatizations in our country,” he added.
